CRM is where clients and pipeline live. Quotes and projects work best when they hang off a real company and deal.
Where
Under CRM: Deals, Companies, Contacts, Dashboard, and Workspace (sales tasks / targets on desktop).
Companies and contacts
- Create a company under CRM → Companies.
- Add contacts under CRM → Contacts and link them to the company. One person can have more than one email at the same company (e.g. personal + general inbox) — use + on Edit contact and pick the same company again with the other address. On the contact page you see one card per company, with each email (and its portal invite) on its own row.
- Keep emails accurate. Exact contact emails matter for email capture and client portal invites (invite each address that should sign in).
- Primary / Billing / Active (and job title) are roles for that person at the company — they stay the same across all emails at that company. The star next to an email on Edit contact sets the person’s primary email (shown in the header), which is separate from Primary contact.
Deals and leads
- Open CRM → Deals.
- Create a lead or deal and move it through your pipeline stages.
- Create the quote from that deal.
You can change the company on an existing deal or on a linked quote; the other side stays in sync (deal client ↔ quote client). After a company change, pick a contact that belongs to the new company before you move further in the pipeline.
When the quote is Won, use Mark deal as won to create the project. That is the recommended start for client work. A blank project from the Projects menu skips budget and asset handoff. More in Get started.
Configure pipelines and stages under Stage Configuration (Settings → CRM & sales, or the CRM hub). Full guide: Pipelines and deal stages.
Suppliers
CRM → Suppliers is for freelancers and vendors (shortlists, labels). Separate from client companies. See Suppliers.
Things that trip people up
- Quote without a company: invoicing and portal get harder.
- Contact email in Clippter differs from the address they mail from: matching fails.
- Calling a deal “won” in the pipeline only, without the quote / wizard path, when you still need a proper project.
- Jumping to Projects → New and rebuilding assets by hand.
